I'm aware that wheel tire resiliency certainly gives a racer an advantage. Knowing this, I conducted some experiments that I would like to share with others. They are summarized in the adjoining graph. My intention was to determine the spring constant of stock wheels, axles, and a suspension system that would be necessary to simulate a blown wheel. I decided to try a steel bearing dropped down a transparent tube to gauge wheel resiliency. Here are my findings:
